An exotic affair
Highland, Eastern
We prepared a Karithopita; a Greek walnut and orange oil cake with orange syrup served on the side, before we dipped carrot sticks into a sour cream and chive dip and enjoyed a luxury Bombay mix snack. On the palate we had a slice of rich, sweet breakfast bread with raisins known in Flemish as Kramiek, toasted and paired with onion confit. Diluted we stayed in Belgium with quince pear waffles but there was also a scent of pistachio cake and miso soup. The taste had now something of tempura deep fried vegetables and Japanese egg roll with plenty of wasabi – a lively affair no doubt.
