May Outturn Offerings
Embrace The Thrill of the Taste this month with twelve (12) newly released Society casks! Our May Outturn sports excellent cask maturity, diversity of flavour profiles and cask maturation. Hunting down new flavours is a cornerstone of the Society experience – begin your journey on familiar ground and then branch out into unknown and thrilling places. Let our flavour profiles and Tasting Panel descriptive notes be your guide as you write the next chapter of your Society journey!
The other cornerstone of the Society experience is to discover through sharing drams with like-minded whisky lovers. We’ve made that a little easier with The Thrill of the Taste bundle – a ‘high-five’ of flavour certain to get the cask strength conversation rolling! We kick things off with Cask No. 79.6 Rough and jumble to wake up that palate. Only the sixth cask from distillery 79, this thought-provoking malt offers malty sweetness and herbaceous complexity for a spritely start. Member favourite distillery Cask No. 26.173 Galloping through lush meadows paints a delightful picture of vanilla, citrus, flowers and honey, all within that beautiful beeswax texture indicative of the distillery’s make. Cask No. 122.42 Gold rush dials up the orchard fruits whilst introducing cabinet spices and herbal liqueurs for an exotic take on this rarely seen unpeated expression. We now delve into additional maturation with wine casks, first red wine and then sherry finishes. Cask No. 59.65 Red oak lives up to its name with bright port and sangria notes to complement cigar box accents. Dessert wine and dark chocolate drive a flavourful palate that will have you coming back to unpack more and more nuances in this delightfully intriguing malt. We conclude our flight with Cask No. 100.29 Misbehaving in a country house. The title alone should be enough to entice but aromas and flavours of brown sugar, toasted nuts, toffee, crème brûlée, and roasted coffee await! Three years in Oloroso cask has created an utterly delicious dram not to be missed!
Perhaps your next thrill lies in a well-aged Speyside whisky. The 17-year-old Cask No. 7.269 Luscious, silky and sensuous and 18-year-old Cask No. 63.78 Let your imagination run wild are two barrels that yielded incredibly small outturns. What this mean for us is highly concentrated aromas and flavours that will impress with intensity and texture. A younger expression lies in Cask No. 80.25 Blooming marvellous – this prequel to our Speyside Spring Distillery Dive bursts onto the scene with fresh flowers, tropical fruits, vanilla and chocolate-covered coffee beans.
Find your thrills in peated malt? Cask No. 16.60 Entering uncharted paths brings the smoky intensity and along with some Caribbean charm for a one-of-a-kind sipper.
The Society’s Ben Diedrich and Scott Brunow sat down last night to taste several casks from today’s release. Click here to check out the May Outturn Preview Tasting for more information on select casks. Experience your very own thrill of the taste this month with one of the brilliant expressions that follow!
