The nose neat took us all by surprise, sweet, fruity, sun-soaked raisins, orange cream, ginger cake, strawberries dipped in chocolate and candied roasted nuts. So did the taste neat, juicy, deep and dark like a jamun cooler, black plums, chilled water, honey and a pinch of black pepper powder and salt. After the addition of water, the aroma was that of strawberry tarts, custard slices as well as pistachio cake and on the palate creamy bourbon vanilla, Malaga, hazelnut and chocolate ice cream. Following nine years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a 1st fill Oloroso hogshead.
