Tasting Panel Notes
We opened a vacuum-sealed container of dark-roasted coffee beans, enjoying notes of chocolate, caramel and candied fruits. Huge on the palate, this was spicy and peppery at first but then delivered the deep, dark sweetness of muscovado sugar.
Following reduction we expanded our coffeeish contemplations, finding comparisons to camp coffee, Turkish coffee or carajllo, the Spanish version of an Irish coffee using brandy, rum or mezcal. To taste, we had an espresso romano, combining a coffee shot with a candied lemon slice and a teaspoon of sugar. At eight years of age, we combined selected casks from the same distillery. We then returned the single malt into a variety of different casks to develop further. This is one of those casks.
