Feel-good fruit fancy

The nose was mainly a feel-good fruit fancy (peach melba, dried apricots, lemon and lime), with grassy and floral suggestions, which eventually morphed into straw, mint and rolling tobacco. We found the palate tropical and zesty, intense yet silky, with lemon meringue pie, blackcurrant pastilles, sultanas and dried bananas – sweet chilli spice at the end. The reduced nose was both fruity (strawberry tarts, stewed rhubarb) and biscuity (bourbon biscuits, Penguins). The palate continued that theme with amaretto biscuits, Hobnobs* and sponge fingers in a sherry trifle; the juiciness of bramble jam and woody spices lingering in the finish.
