Sugary espresso and pink wafers
Speyside, Spey
The nose started as grass, hay and summer meadows, but then we discovered stewed apples and custard, fruit tea, lemon balm on raspberries, pineapple tarts, ripe fig, and polished wood. The palate was full-flavoured; gummi bears, caramel bonbons, toffee apple, stewed apricot and cinnamon apple polenta cake balanced by mild chilli, stem ginger and dry wood on the finish. On the reduced nose we now found candied angelica, rum and raisin ice-cream, foamy bananas, exotic fruits and biscuit assortment pink wafers. Still substantial, the palate gave us vanilla Angel Delight, chocolate limes, cinnamon toast, sugary espresso and wood chips.
