Notes

The Vaults in Leith houses the largest collection of single cask, cask strength whisky bottles in the world. From the oldest “.1’s” to the most recent releases from the Society, an embarrassment of riches awaits those who make the journey to this historic place. Create your own Gathering at The Vaults experience with an exceptional selection of six single casks perfect for an unforgettable tasting flight! Casks from all four sub-regions of Speyside (Lossie, Findhorn, Deveron and Spey), the Highlands and Islay will equip you and your whisky-loving friends with your own embarrassment of riches! We begin in the northern Speyside with The Gathering official bottle – Cask 39.180 Smokers on a new carpet. The depth and balance of this impeccably aged whisky will make for a sublime start to the exploration. We head to western Speyside for Cask 55.56 Teucher dubstep that offers a lively palate redolent with malty notes, citrus zing and a spicy finish. Time for a little sherry and we find this in the eastern Speyside with Cask 73.110 Warm as a welcoming hug. The dried fruits, spices and confection combine for a hedonistic midway point in your tasting. While the next dram sends us to the central Speyside, you might just think you’re on a Highland coast – Cask 44.105 Al fresco dining manifests notions of maritime delicacies, coastal breezes and an oily richness that makes for an utterly unique take on this distillery style. You are actuallyin the Highlands for a transition to peated whisky with Cask 66.141 Roofing felt on a beach hut. The malt strikes excellent balance between cool campfire peat and confectionary richness for a deliciously drinkable dram. Our final whisky hails from Islay and has the youthful bravado to bring this tasting to a fever pitch. Intense aromas and flavours of sea and smoke combine to offer a complexity beyond its years. Cask 53.276 Ein kleiner deutscher samurai is a perfect finish to your own Gathering at The Vaults!
