Buttery vanilla, coal tar soap and sweet milky tea come first. Then lemon curd, bourbon biscuits, green fruits and golden syrup sponge cake. A curious, yet charming example of this scarcely seen make. With water it opens up with mineral oils, old tool sheds, lighter fluid, muddled mint and nettles, river reeds, clay, limestone and straw mats. Further hints of vegetable stock and cut grass. The palate is full on with fruity chilli, chalk, black pepper, hot smoked paprika, spiced custard, gingerbread and buttered oatcakes. Reduction brings out white flowers, flinty edges, herbal sweetness, ripe pears, lanolin and grassy olive oil with a final coal dusty finish.
