Cask No. 95.116
Syrupy, Toasty and Playful
$235
This perennial staff favorite distillery creates harmonious malts that evoke bright orchard fruits, honey and vanilla character. When the distillate comes in contact with sherry casks, the magic really starts. Here we have a richly textured and divinely decadent single malt matured 14 years in ex-bourbon wood and 4 years in Spanish oak Oloroso sherry wood. The result is magical, indeed!

Tasting Panel Notes
Initial nosing suggested orange syrup, dessert wines, citrus curds and spiced marmalade. We also got a gentle leathery richness, backed by flower nectars and milk chocolate. Water brought out toasted walnuts, pine wood, lanolin and pipe tobacco. This was rich, easy and pleasing, we all agreed. The palate initially displayed varied wood spices, drier earthier tones, more pipe tobacco and strawberry wine. With water it revealed a more playful side, delivering honeycomb, lemon meringue pie and assorted candied nuts and citrus peels. This was matured in an ex-bourbon hogshead for 14 years before being transferred to a first fill Spanish oak oloroso hogshead.
