Sneezing in the sun

Speyside, Spey

We found the initial nose slightly sharp and ‘sneezy’ – a silversmith’s workshop, washing powder and strimming nettles were mentioned; but it also had good sweet and sour fruitiness (strawberry tarts, lemon meringue pie, honeyed pears). The palate gave us some sweet pleasures (honey, toffee, coffee Matchmakers, pistachio Turkish Delight) spices (black peppercorn) and sharp fruits (grape, gooseberry, cranberry, marmalade). In reduction, the nose turned fresher and more perfumed (fresh laundry, Battenberg cake, cherry brandy liqueurs, dried flowers) while the palate balanced satisfying praline sweetness with warming woody spice and a combination of fruit smoothies and sun cream, that evoked summer days.

Drinking tip: While doing the laundry, or planning your summer holiday.
