Creeping through the forest amongst pine needles and pine cones we found ourselves in a land of desserts as aromas of butter pastry and caramel sauce wafted past. We then noticed gooseberry tarts with vanilla custard and rice pudding dusted with cinnamon before we encountered the sticky temptation of an apricot Danish. Herbal notes brought a background of complexity with liquorice and aniseed whilst the undiluted palate delivered a wakeup call from raw chillies. A few drops of water released nutty dimensions as hazelnuts and almonds joined roasted chestnuts with a drizzle of maple syrup. Tart fruity notes of physallis and starfruit appeared towards the end before being joined by balsa wood on the finish.
