Cask No. 71.44

Cumin on a cricket bat

Speyside, Lossie

The nose was fresh as the morning dew on a wakening daisy, with invigorating but subtle aromas of zingy lemon, mint, grass, pear and milk chews. The palate had tingling, youthful spiciness and apples, pears, pineapples, orange barley sugars and sweet malt –‘feisty but fun’; oiled wood and aspirin to finish. On the reduced nose, the sun was definitely up – fizzy apple freshness, tinned mandarin segments, rhubarb and custard sweets, marzipan and a lick of fresh paint. The reduced palate – now sweet yet citric with the warmth of cumin on a cricket bat – mouth-coating and very drinkable – a great session dram.
