A wonderful nose which slowed us right down to appreciate those aromas of prunes, raisins, dark chocolate marzipan and Demerara sugar finishing off with nutty notes of walnuts, macadamia and Haribo ‘Crazy Python’. On the palate neat, mellow and well balanced; toasted almonds, ginger snaps and a walnut-crusted pork tenderloin. Be very careful adding water but what we got we enjoyed; a Waldorf salad with a twist – adding dried apricots, almonds and sherry vinegar. To taste now, syrupy sweet prune juice and we turned yet again a nutty corner with German ‘nussecke’ made from buttery shortbread, a sweet apricot jam layer and caramelised hazelnut topping.
