Cask No. 7.204

Wined & dined

Speyside, Lossie

A real curiosity for the panel, this one displayed immediate notes of cedar wood cigar boxes, dark morello cherries, earth, pine cones, bourbon vanilla ice cream and charred wood. With water it became fresher with peach puree, lemon oil, red fruits, soft wax, apple peelings and pipe tobacco. The palate displayed notes of dark rum, subtle wax, banana cake, black tea, soft red and green fruits and hints of various oils and carbon paper. Water brought crusted port, wine gums, lemon jelly, coal dust and damson compote. Some nutmeg dusted victoria sponge towards the finish. After 24 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky to a charred red wine barrique.
