Cask No. 68.33
My heart’s in the Highlands
Highland, Southern
Wherever you are, your heart will be transported to Scotland’s mountains and valleys with this teleportational tipple that embodies an 'old Highland style'. It has a fulsome and old-school mix of herbal waxes, soft medical embrocation, tiger balm, lemon tea, fruit-studded muesli, cough syrup, moss, lichen, damp tobacco leaf, gooseberry tart and pear cordial. Water brings a sooty edge with white pepper, cupboard spices, dried marjoram, green tea, wood shavings, pine resin and trampled clover. In the mouth there's an initial warmth of ointment and medical notes followed by fruit syrups, lemon cough drops, tinned peaches, pineapple cubes, cinnamon rolls, delicate waxiness and lanolin. Reduction reveals some bitter orange marmalade infused with star anise, hints of oily sheep wool, rye bread spiciness, hessian cloth and waxed canvas.
