A smell of slightly burnt toasted crostini served with goat cheese and four fruits marmalade (Seville oranges, grapefruit, lime and lemon) before a sticky toffee pudding came out of the oven. Hot and youthful but with plenty of sweet maltiness (Ovaltine or Horlicks) and the creamy texture of a peppercorn sauce made this an invigorating experience. With water like a spiced herb cream cheese on salted crackers or a fruit and lettuce salad with an orange-yoghurt dressing on the nose, whilst on the palate lemon and raspberry éclairs and chocolate profiteroles made it now a very moreish experience indeed.
