Classic honey and oak
Speyside, Spey
The nose started with a classic blend of honey and oak, then shifted to the clean aromatic sweetness of custard creams, rose Turkish Delight, sherbet straws, yellow plums and kumquats. The palate was mouth-filling and warm – sticky, gooey treacle toffee pudding, with pleasant spice tingles on the tongue (red liquorice, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove). Adding water seemed to enhance the bright, captivating perfumed sweetness of the nose, but we also discovered honey lemon lockets, orange boxes and holiday swimming pools. The palate found chewy sweetness with light spice, lemon bonbons and wood sap, with a somewhat unexpected salty tang on the finish.
