Notes

Cask No. 48.124

A carpenter's bench

Speyside, Spey

An easy-drinking, straightforward and consistently attractive dram. The sweet, sunny nose has honey, maple syrup and Turkish delight, with pleasing woody notes – lemon ice-lolly sticks, cherry stones, pencil shavings and ‘a carpenter’s bench cocoa break’. The palate is viscous and suddenly smooth; flavours ranging from barley sugars and fruity boiled sweets to pistachio nougat and whispers of white pepper. The reduced nose finds lemon curd on toast, syrupy flapjacks, fruit cocktail, melon boats with cocktail cherries and furniture stores. The palate retains the Baklava nutty sweetness but now finds the subtle warmth of chilli, ginger, wasabi and humbugs on the finish.
