Exotic sweet perfume

Speyside, Spey

The initial nose suggested perfume and freshly oiled wooden furniture; then it developed dry rolling tobacco, leather handbags and orange zest – gradually sweetening to mille-feuille pastries, Trail Mix and maple candies. The palate was mouth-warming, viscous and sweet – rhubarb rock, fruit salad chews, jelly babies, Empire biscuits and Turkish Delight, with sweet ginger and lebkuchen. The reduced nose – sweetly perfumed, like sherbet straws, exotic flowers, orange and lemon slices and candied angelica on an iced cake. The palate – now a long-lingering mix of crystallised orange, dark chocolate, ginger and clove – would go well with Green & Black’s Maya Gold chocolate.
