Cask No. 13.113

A Parade of Complexities

$195

Society single casks of Distillery 13 are always something to behold, both in ex-bourbon and sherry casks. This expression leans into the distillate style meant to hold sherry with a few years of ex-bodega PX barrique aging. The result is a stunning whisky to discover.

Tasting Panel Notes

The initial nose offered a bright medley of pineapple, fresh lime zest and the warmth of pastries straight from a morning bakery. As the whisky opened up it grew deeper and more complex, revealing hints of liquorice, black tea and a rich blackberry reduction. On the palate, those darker notes lingered, joined by muscovado sugar, sweet liquorice chews, a smoky barbecue and a touch of plum sauce. A splash of water brought warmth and familiarity, evoking memories of toffee apples, juicy orange wedges and subtle whispers of aniseed and sweet vermouth. To finish, the Panel noted an indulgent parade of dessert favourites: layered gâteaux, chocolate mousse topped with toasted nuts and a gentle dusting of warming spices. After 12 years in an ex-bourbon barrel, we transferred this to a first fill PX ex-bodega barrique for the remainder of its maturation.
