The sleeping giant awoken!
Islay
An intriguing nose with aromas of briny sea breeze, red apples, maple syrup, and hazelnut meringue (as well as sweet and salty popcorn) were followed by an attack of alcohol, salt and caramel on the palate neat all of which took our breath away – the sleeping giant had awoken! After the well needed dilution, the scent was that of lavender soap, agave syrup and Middle Eastern lemon tea, whilst a lot more manageable to taste with a pleasant heather honey, stewed apples with lemon crumble, a touch of aniseed, black pepper and a nutty, dry and crisp finish.
