We begin our tour outside of Glasgow at a distillery that has garnered a considerable following among our members. Cask 123.34 Basil apple lime juice is another brilliant single cask example of this make that sees only first-fill ex-Bourbon oak for a youthfully fruit-driven delivery. The ride continues north through the Cairngorm Mountains to Inverness. Cask 11.39 Back to the teutcher offers an opulent profile redolent with tropical and stewed fruits, sweet and savoury confections and a nice dash of herbal notes. This is a quietly complex malt that represents classic Highland style. A beautiful drive over the firths Moray and Cromarty will bring you to Tain, the home of our northernmost selection, Cask 70.35 ‘What happens in Vegas …’. Much like the title’s city, the aromas and flavours are enticing and electric with vivid notes of decadent cookies, fruits, nuts and spices. Our multi-faceted flavour journey ends just outside Perth after a picnic at Loch Lomond & The Trossachs State Park. Cask 16.37 Polarizing perceptions is from one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries and is a rare and beautiful bird. The distillery only makes a (relative) handful of these casks and we are lucky to have one. Intense Highland peat endows this dram with grilled meats, spices and smoke for a wild finish to our Summer Holiday in the Highlands tour. So sink into a chair for the sunset or gather round the fire pit….the whiskies that follow have a quite a story to tell!
