We found giving this one a bit of time to breathe, helped to reveal the black magic so well hidden in the glass. The scent of sun dried raisins, fresh cinnamon, apricot and orange zest combined with herbal notes of thyme and rosemary. On the palate neat like an East European beetroot ans tomato borscht with fresh beef broth, onions, carrots, celery and garlic. Diluted, we went out to a Walpurgis Night bonfire whilst chewing on salty hard liquorice and treacle toffee. After twenty years in an ex-bourbon hogshead we transferred this whisky into a first--fill PX hogshead.
