A wonderful aroma of juicy fruit chewing gum, buttered date slices and old pipe tobacco greeted us at first. Followed up by mint julep, coal dust, a little vanilla essence and a handful of wild strawberries. Water revealed white pepper, jasmine, mothballs and hints of juniper and damson jam. The arrival in the mouth was sleek and warming. Full of toasted cereals, olive oil, lemon peel, orange bitters and notes of old ink wells and pomegranate molasses. Dilution brought out red fruits, cola cubes, menthol cigarettes, gingerbread and some beeswax furniture polish.
