Tasting Panel Notes

The initial nose gave us summer fragrances of sweet peas, chamomile lawns and hedgerows, and the fruity zing of tangerines, pink grapefruit and fino sherry. The palate maintained creative tension between sweet, creamy characteristics (white chocolate, blancmange, nougat and pears in custard) and the slightly bitterer aspects of almonds, bitter lemon and gooseberry, before a dry finish of liquorice and oak. The reduced nose evoked honeycomb, buttery pastries, peach-flavoured ice tea and freshly cut pine. On the palate, the nutty, creamy elements both increased, delivering banana split with crushed nuts, tutti frutti ice cream and strawberry yoghurt, with traces of pickled ginger and wasabi on the finish.
