The nose opens with seaweed, kelp-strewn seashores and beach sand before moving into carbolic territory with iodine, saline antiseptics and smoked peanuts. Hints of paprika and lemongrass follow on. With water it becomes more tertiary and earthy. Hints of old furniture, cracked leather chairs, sports car upholstery, disinfected bandages and engine oil. In the mouth it is a big, rolling tide of oil, sweetness, wood ashes and umami. A disarming apparent maturity. A little dilution further enhances the sweetness and adds freeze-dried strawberries, raspberries and rhubarb and custard boiled sweets. A flutter of embrocations in the finish.
