A wonderfully expressive dram, the nose brims with smoky wax, sooty malt bins, fermenting wash, bailed hay, salted lemons, pastries, waxed canvas, brioche, chopped herbs and dried seaweed. Some dollops of acrylic paints and butter mints as well. With the addition of water comes fresh fabric, linen and gauze. Dunnage warehouse, hessian cloth, dry earth, wine lofts, chicken stock, mineral salts and deft tropical fruits. The palate is full-on with smoked mint leaf, tobacco, cedar wood cigar boxes, lemon thyme, crushed aspirin, clove oil, lemon jelly and tiger balm brushed over almonds and marzipan. Water brings notes of fermenting lemons, blood orange, soda bread, chocolate limes, pomegranate and autolytic, yeasty aspects.
