You may have noticed that we’ve recently updated our bottle labels. This change wasn’t done lightly – it was something that we had been preparing to do for a long time for one simple reason: to help our members select their whisky even more easily.

The new bottle design brings even more light to the flavor profile of the whisky inside. As a member you know that The Scotch Malt Whisky Society has defined twelve core proprietary flavor profiles to help members chose their next single cask whisky according to their personal preferences. The nature of single casks is rarity; as a single cask only yields so many bottles, it can sometimes be both rewarding and frustrating to fall in love with a bottle you may perhaps only experience but once!

We developed the twelve flavor profiles to help members understand their palates and preferences better. For instance, if the bottle you loved was from an oily and coastal cask, you may be inclined to try other casks that share the same characteristics and are also classified as “oily and coastal”.

With our new look members will be able to see the flavor classification right on the front of the bottle. Because bottles are now labeled by color, it will help you to detect the flavors you love more easily than ever before.

We’ve already received a lot of great feedback on embracing the color-coding flavor system through our new design. We hope you enjoy it and embrace the flavor with us in 2018!
