A wonderfully deep and funky aroma. One that incorporated petrol, leathery bodega earthiness, salinity, hot house flowers, botrytis, cookie dough and dried exotic fruits. Heady, intoxicating and totally thrilling. Reduction brought out game meats, perfume musk, fruit juices, almonds, pistachio ice cream, cedar wood and hessian. A real smorgasbord of aromas! The palate opened with concentrated and intense notes of fruit cordials and syrups. Exotic fruit teas, aromatic wood spices, liquorice, mineral oils and soft waxes. With water it remained superbly juicy and textural but also showed notes of candied mango chunks, passion flower and herbal ointments. Matured for 17 years in a bourbon barrel before transfer to a 1st fill ex-Sauternes barrique.
