Shiraz rosé! Irn Bru reduction! Pickled walnuts! What was this bewildering concoction? A nose redolent with funky wine must, nuts, truffle, earth and cured meats. Also showed pine forest, brandy butter, roast beetroot and baby onions in broth. Water brought a tang of spicy bloody mary, celery salt, fennel, Worcestershire sauce and malt vinegar. Big, no-nonsense whisky. The palate was initially malty and strewn with toasted raisins, then very jammy with chilli heat, putty and old pinot noir. Reduction offered us hot caramel sauce, corn sausage, herbal mouthwash, mead and cough mixtures. Quite a ride!
