We found this one to be rather typical of this distillery at this age: big, robust, playful, boisterous and ever so slightly unusual. Initial notes of toasted juniper, oiled canvas, curious ointments, quinine, dry linens, lime cordial in soda water, dried rose petals and heather flowers. Water brought lemon vitamin tablets, freshly laundered linens, hummus, green tea, rolling tobacco and plain brown toast. The mouth was warm and with a brittle spiciness. Crisp notes of cider apple, gooseberry tart, cooking oils, soft waxes and limestone. Water added wet grains, white miso, sage stuffing, pasta water and rose cordial. Â Â
