The Highland Whisky Festival Collection

Our hearts are in the Highlands today with four (4) newly released casks! We are celebrating this storied region with brilliant expressions from this breathtaking part of the world. Our liquid journey through Scotland’s most awe-inspiring landscape will transport us to each cardinal direction of the Highlands. Along the way, a bountiful spectrum of aromas and flavours will be revealed on our next festival adventure!

Our celebratory cask with special label and international bottle format (700mL) hails from a hidden gem of the Highlands. Producing whisky since 1798, this distillery creates an oily and full-bodied malt that many will argue represents the typical Highland style of a bygone era. Distillery 19 Rare Release Out of This World emanates complexity and character in an expression that marries a mouthcoating texture with ample aromas of bright fruits and a divinely decadent palate. You will discover a multi-dimensional dram that will undoubtedly impress the senses. This distillery is new to many Society members, so we happily envy your discovery!

A few flavourful friends are along for the ride today - from the east, we head south for Cask No. 68.58 A Most Acceptable Start. Casks from this distillery are in high demand thanks to a combination of a rich, malty nose and sweetly nutty palate. This bottling shows flashes of chocolatey grain with vanilla, buttery desserts and hazelnuts on the palate. Let’s continue our journey by heading north for a departure from the norm for this particular distillery. Cask No. 13.91 A Colourful Companion was aged entirely in ex-bourbon wood. Most malts from this distillery are sherried within an inch of their lives, so the freshly citric, herbal and vanilla notes that reveal themselves are equally compelling and distinctive. Our final cask comes from a distillery situated in the western Highlands that is rarely seen in single cask form. Most of the spirit produced here is shipped to Japan and used for a Japanese blended whisky produced by the distillery’s owner, so the chance to procure single casks of this iconic malt is few and far between. Cask No. 78.53 Death in the Afternoon spent 5 years in ex-bourbon and 3 years in Oloroso wood, garnering a bold and balanced expression of dried fruits, dark chocolate and ginger spice. This already brilliantly textured malt derives even more richness from the maturation in sherry. An exquisite end to our flavour-filled tour!
