Vaults Collection Lottery Release – Cask 39.199 Now Available

Luxury meets lusciousness in our latest Vaults Collection release! Cask 39.199 Polishing melons is a rare single malt from one of the Speyside’s most facinating distilleries! It is not possible to find an official bottling outside the walls of the distillery, but thanks to the Society’s long-term relationships, we have been spoiled time and time again by truly memorable single casks from these stills. Our Vaults Collection release today will, frankly, leave many of those memories in the dust with an expression that occupies a universe of its own. Thirty years of maturation commenced in an ex-bourbon hogshead and concluded in a toasted oak hogshead, providing the structure to frame a prodigious procession of luscious tropical fruits, orchard fruits and cask-derived confections. To say the texture on the palate is phenomenal might be understating it a wee bit. This is unctuous, mouth-coating elixir that will treat your palate to the sublime richness imparted by the make of this spirit and thought-provoking complexity thirty years in the barrel affords. After meticulous maturation spanning three decades, this liquid ‘Shangri-La’ of flavours is waiting to be discovered!
Since our allocation of this Vaults Collection cask was extraordinarily scarce (30 bottles for the whole USA!), we anticipate extremely high interest among Society members. To ensure you have a fair opportunity to order a bottle yourself, Cask 39.199 is available via lottery drawing only. Entries must be completed by Monday, June 14th at 12:00PM ET. Winning member names will be drawn at that time. They will be contacted shortly thereafter and will have 48 hours to complete their bottle purchase. Cask No. 39.199
Title:Polishing melons
Tasting Note: Wonderful textures embraced us from the start as beeswax polish and scented candles surrounded soft melons and a poached pear. Rich runny honey and butterscotch then merged with soft leather and toffee apples before more tropical tones appeared. Then lemon sherbet with hints of peppermint washed over fresh oak and caramel wafers before joining mango and glacé cherries. With water came an abundance of apples, pears and guava with citrus oils forming a whirlpool that sucked us down into the dark sweetness of stewed prunes, dates and chocolate éclairs. Oily and mouth-coating textures remained well into the finish where they were joined by maple syrup and mint chocolate. After 27 years in a bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky to a toasted oak cask for the remainder of its maturation.
